Agile Connect Rochester is a full day event focused on learning and sharing Agile best practices with the TechRochester community. Attendees will engage in interactive breakouts and thought-provoking discussions to explore successful Agile implementations and learn how to address common challenges.

This collaborative event encourages peer-to-peer learning and open discussion as attendees will have opportunities to share their own achievements, lessons learned, and innovative approaches to Agile implementation. These shared experiences will illustrate how Agile principles can be applied across diverse business contexts at organizations of all sizes, inspiring attendees to implement similar practices within their own organizations.

Esther Derby

Esther Derby draws on four decades of experience leading, observing, and living organizational change. She works with a broad array of organizations. Her clients include both startups and Fortune 500 companies. Based on experience and research, her approach blends attention to humans and deep knowledge of complex adaptive systems. Esther has been called one of the most influential voices within the agile communities when it comes to developing organizations, coaching teams, and transforming management. Her work over many years has influenced coaches and leaders across many companies.

Esther started her career as a programmer. However, over the years she’s worn many hats. From all these perspectives, one thing was clear: individual, team, and even organizational success depends greatly on the work environment and organizational dynamics. 

She’s co-author of Agile Retrospectives 2nd Edition: A Practical Guide for Catalyzing Team Learning and Improvement (2024), Behind Closed Doors: Secrets of Great Management (2005),and author of 7 Rules for Positive Productive Change: Micro Shifts, Macro Results (2019).

She’s also the host of the popular podcast, Change by Attraction and co-host of the Law of Jam podcast.

Esther has an MA in Organizational Leadership and a certificate in Human Systems Dynamics. She’s trained as a Mentor Coach and a Satir Coaching Specialist.
