Sharon Samjitsingh

Co-Founder, Health Care Originals

Sharon has 27 years experience in engineering, project, corporate management and technical entrepreneurship. Sharon obtained her Masters at the University of Rochester. Prior to that she led Group Projects for an international conglomerate, having oversight on a project portfolio in excess of $100 million. She is one of less than 1,900 professionals worldwide with the triple certification of PMP®, PMI-SP® and PMI-RMP®. Sharon was recently honored, along with others like Jane Goodall, Katherine Blurr Blodgett and Sheryl Sandberg, by being included in the Names Dress (www.namesdress.com), a 3Dprinted conceptual art piece that celebrates and brings awareness to the accomplishments of women in STEAM fields. The dress is made up of over 300 names of current and historic women in STEAM fields and was on display in Florence, Italy at the Ferragamo Museum’s Sustainable Thinking exhibition from April 12, 2019 through March 8, 2020.  

As Director of Commercialization, she leads the deployment and scale-up of Sweetwater Energy’s game-changing solution for biomass pre-treatment – a system that will revolutionize renewable fuels, chemicals and materials. Sweetwater Energy is deploying its first commercial-scale model in Estonia in 2020. 

Sharon also Co-Founded Health Care Originals, Inc. (HCO). HCO is an award-winning digital health startup, utilizing a combination of its proprietary technology and technology developed at URMC. HCO cardio-pulmonary wearable systems improve the lives of many with chronic diseases. Sharon co-founded Health Care Originals because she has a personal understanding of the need for improvement in respiratory monitoring and is happy that HCO’ technology is leading the way. Sharon is passionate about the level of freedom, depth of understanding and personalized control that digital health solutions, medical wearables and the IoT environment offer the individual, and is excited to be a part of the ecosystem bringing that promise to reality.
